KTM has announced a safety recall affecting certain 2025 and 2026 model-year motorcycles from its 390 range. The recall applies to the 390 Adventure R, 390 Adventure X, 390 Enduro R, and 390 SMC R, and relates to a potential issue with the side-stand spring.
According to the manufacturer, internal quality checks identified that motorcycles fitted with a forged side stand may experience a failure of the side-stand spring under specific conditions. Engine vibrations could cause the spring to weaken or break, which may result in the side stand not retracting as intended. While only a limited number of cases have been reported, KTM has initiated the recall as a preventive safety measure.
Owners of affected motorcycles will be contacted directly and asked to visit an authorized KTM dealership, where the repair will be carried out free of charge. The corrective action includes replacing the side-stand spring with an updated component designed to improve durability. In some cases, dealers may also install an additional rubber protector and update the side-stand sensor mounting to ensure proper operation.
Until the recall work is completed, KTM advises riders to take precautionary steps to secure the side stand when riding, such as using a temporary restraint, to reduce the risk of unintended movement.
KTM has confirmed that India-spec versions of these models are not impacted by this recall, as they use a different side-stand design that was revised earlier.
The company states that the recall reflects its ongoing commitment to rider safety and product reliability, encouraging affected owners to complete the service update as soon as possible.
