2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT Unveiled with Major Tech and Touring Upgrades

Yamaha has updated its popular Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT for 2025 with advanced electronics, improved suspension, and enhanced touring features. Powered by the proven 690cc CP2 engine, the new models now offer ride-by-wire throttle, riding modes, smartphone connectivity, and greater comfort — making them ideal for both everyday commuting and long-distance adventures.

Yamaha has officially lifted the covers off its updated 2025 Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT models, bringing a wave of new technology, refined design, and rider-focused features. With these enhancements, the popular sport-touring duo now offers improved comfort, control, and connectivity for both daily riders and long-distance tourers.

Refined Performance with a Familiar Heart

Both models retain the proven 690cc CP2 parallel-twin engine, known for its punchy mid-range performance and reliability. Producing 72.4 bhp at 8,750 rpm and 67 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, the motor is now Euro5+ compliant, ensuring it meets the latest emission standards without compromising the riding experience.

A major addition for 2025 is the adoption of Yamaha’s ride-by-wire throttle system, known as YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle). This enables features like cruise control and multiple riding modes — Street, Sport, and Custom — allowing riders to tailor power delivery to different road conditions and preferences.

Suspension and Chassis Tweaks for Better Handling

Both the Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT benefit from a revised suspension setup. A 41mm upside-down front fork with adjustable rebound damping and a rear monoshock now come standard. The GT variant goes a step further with a remote preload adjuster at the rear, making it easier to tune for loaded touring or two-up riding.

Yamaha has also extended the swingarm by 40mm and stiffened the chassis. These changes improve stability, especially at highway speeds, while maintaining agility in urban settings and twisty backroads.

Modern Tech and Rider Connectivity

A new 5-inch full-color TFT display is the centerpiece of the cockpit. Riders can switch between two screen layouts — ‘Touring’ and ‘Street’ — depending on their preference. Both models now support smartphone connectivity through Yamaha’s MyRide app, giving access to notifications, music, and call alerts directly on the dash.

Turn-by-turn navigation is enabled through Garmin’s StreetCross app, making these bikes even more practical for touring enthusiasts who don’t want to rely on a separate GPS device.

Tracer 7 GT: Built for the Open Road

The GT model comes factory-fitted with several touring-focused enhancements. These include:

  • 20-liter hard side cases for generous luggage space

  • A taller and wider touring windscreen for improved wind protection

  • A comfort seat with extra padding and dual-material construction

  • A sturdy rear carrier for additional baggage options

These upgrades transform the GT into a capable long-distance machine straight out of the showroom.

Braking and Ergonomics Get a Boost

Upgraded dual 298mm front discs offer enhanced braking power and feedback. Ergonomically, the handlebar is now positioned 30mm higher and 25mm wider, providing a more upright and relaxed riding posture — especially welcome on extended rides.

Seat height remains accessible, and the GT version features improved cushioning for both rider and pillion, with an extended pillion section for better support.

The 2025 Yamaha Tracer 7 and Tracer 7 GT will be available from July 2025. Pricing is set at approximately £8,804 for the standard Tracer 7 and £10,104 for the Tracer 7 GT.
